Awesome shot. Are those the swollen blood veins all over its muscles? Amazing... I don't think I have ever seen a horse straiht after a race like this.
Yes, thoroughbreds are often surprisingly vascular, and sometimes have very striated muscles. The light here is emphasizing this, but many of these horses are similar to bodybuilders.
